Instruction in Meditation and Buddhism

We provide instruction in meditation for those with little or no experience, either through our drop-in classes on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, or on structured courses held throughout the year. We charge $10 for a drop-in meditation class, or $5 for concession card holders.

We offer introductory courses on Buddhism, on Tuesday evenings, covering the history, principles and practice of the tradition, with particular emphasis on their relevance and application to our lives in this day and culture.

"Awareness is revolutionary" (Sangharakshita)

Both meditation and Buddhism courses run several times a year.

There will be a six-week intermediate meditation course, for those familiar with our practices, starting at 7.30pm on Thursday May 22nd 2008.

The Wheel of Life

The Tibetan Wheel of Life is a fascinating description of the Buddha's essential teaching of conditioned co-production. It describes rebirth from moment to moment as much as from one life to the next. We will explore this complex image, learning how to apply the teaching to our every day life. Over the six weeks there will be discussions, meditation and reflections as well as basic instruction on the symbols found in the Tibetan wheel of life. Both people new to Buddhism as well as those familiar with the basic teachings of the Buddha will find this course beneficial.

Cost: $170 full waged, $120 low waged, $90 unwaged.
